Final version of Brave Space Ape. Done on my iPad with the procreate app and adonit jot touch stylus. I’m trying to be more sculptural in my drawing and more free with the ink.

Got my new adonit touch pressure sensitive stylus and I’ve been working on this brave ape.

And the Winner Is — JILL TRENT, SCIENCE SLEUTH!

With 37% of the vote in our online poll, public-domain character Jill Trent, Science Sleuth was chosen to star in the first collaborative Superdames comic book!

Now, with your help, we’re going to make a new Jill Trent comic book! We’ll select five artists and four writers (I’m the fifth) to create five new stories, five pages each, starring Jill and her faithful life partner, Daisy Smythe.

The official CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS and submission guidelines will be published very very soon. Watch this space!

About the winner: Jill Trent, Science Sleuth, is an inventor and freelance detective who solves crimes and beats up gangsters with the help of her scientific knowledge and her faithful life partner, Daisy Smythe! She first appeared in The Fighting Yank #6 (1943), published by Standard Comics/Nedor; after that, she appeared in The Fighting Yank #9 (1944) and Wonder Comics #8-20 (1946-48).

Tomboy finished in a very strong second place, with 31%.

This looks awesome. I may have to submit a comic for this.

Anonymous asked:

do you have any tips for drawing/thinking up comics?

fingerpuppet:

here’s the number one most amazing tip: just draw em. forget any preconceived ideas you have about comics and just start drawing like there are no rules. and don’t filter out the bad. draw everything that you think might be a bad idea just do it. keep in mind that you are your harshest critic and what you think is bad might be gold to someone else.

I love the way these are stylized! Great interpretation of iconography!

This paintings and it’s ephemera look like they belong in @benjamindewey’s study. This place is awesome. (at The Modern Man)

Posting my satMERday submission to tumblr now. I’m a hipster clownfish merperson. I had an awesome time drawing this, and I love the way it turned out. I drew this in ink in my sketchbook, then colored using the app ProCreate on my iPad.

Special thanks to sfemonster for creating such a wonderful day.
